Carapace is the story of two sisters with a strong brotherly bond, from childhood to adulthood. They live with the absence of their mother who abandoned her family for an Argentinian, so they are left in the care of her father, who ends up moving to Milan and there abandons himself to cocaine. The sisters are two "orphans without being orphans." Thanks to the absence of this figure, Maddie and Nina radiate and spread infinite love. They are raised with a caregiver who fails to supplant her biological mother, but she becomes close to her. Maddalena marries a diplomat and lives in Paris while Nina lives in New York. A detailed physical and spiritual correspondence develops between them, to which Nina adds inappropriate messages and calls to search for roots and reconstruct her past.
