Cambalache
un abogado en la España de Pujol
Melero, Xavier
With a marked character of self-fiction, Cambalache is the life itinerary of a lawyer during forty years of the history of Spain. It begins in the Barcelona of the seventies -in a spring marked by political illusions, music, cinema and sexual experiences- and continues with the times of disenchantment and drugs, the experience of the protagonist working in the prisons of the eighties and finally his discovery of criminal law, the practice of law and the achievement of prestige and recognition. The milestones of the story converge with the nostalgic lyrics of the tangos that accompany certain situations and reflections, while relations with Catalan power and elites are amplified from the 1992 Olympics to date, with the figure of Jordi Pujol as the prominent protagonist. Cambalache is the bittersweet chronicle of someone who, from Barcelona, ??traverses four decades of the country's history with the spirit of a lawyer accustomed to grappling with the subtle line that separates truth and non-truth.
