Butcher's Crossing

Butcher's Crossing

Williams, John (1922-1994)

It is the seventies of the nineteenth century and the young Will Andrews, recently graduated from Harvard University, decides to leave the hustle and bustle of the big city and go to the West to find a bond with nature. Along the way, Will stops in a Kansas village called Butcher's Crossing, a place where the only fun is having drinks with men who have already lost many battles and caressing women tired of trafficking in pleasure. Everything seems sadly bland in that town far from Will's dream adventures until the boy befriends Miller, an experienced buffalo hunter. Miller and Andrews, followed by two other companions, embark on an adventure that will take them to a dreamy meadow where these animals abound. One after another, the buffalo fall, but winter looms and the greed of men will take its toll.
