Benyoncé en la intersección
pop, raza, género y clase
Herrera Quintana, Elena
If we understand pop culture as a space for political negotiation in which cultural battles related to feminism and anti-racism are established, the figure of Beyoncé is at the crossroads of many of these struggles. Beyoncé at the intersection. Pop, race, gender and class by Elena Herrera Quintana, the first work published in Spanish that analyzes the American artist's career from a multidisciplinary approach, offers us a detailed study of many of her influences and symbolic references and the meta-narrative she has built through throughout his career. Contextualizing the creator of Lemonade and the recent Renaissance within the current that has come to be called "celebrity feminism", the author demonstrates that her proposal kicked off a whole series of feminist demonstrations that began to take place in pop and media culture. In addition to reviewing the musical keys of her career, the book focuses on the feminist and anti-racist readings that have been made of Beyoncé's work, sometimes considered as a spearhead for younger people to come into contact with feminisms and, especially with African-American feminism.
