Baydoun
Ramos, Alberto (1999- )
Poetry that celebrates the passions against any type of discrimination. The axis of this collection of poems is based on the secret relationship that Alberto had with Isak Baydoun, a Christian (Assyrian) Arab boy from Stockholm. And all that it entailed for Alberto to meet again after the numerous traumas of his early adolescence; the side effects of bullying, the shame and homophobia of Arab, Swedish and Spanish societies, reconciling with a father who never supported who he was, coming home after years of being gone, a different person than who he left, and finding himself yourself in the middle of it. It happens between the 19 and 20 years of the young person. baydoun is the story of a forbidden love. Baydoun is an introspective and heartbreaking collection of poems, about the arduous path to find oneself, mature, understand our environment and choose what we want to be and what not, and addresses irresolvable family conflicts, religious polarization, faith and danger of extremisms. And how love can complicate all those things.
