Barcelona sin GPS

Barcelona sin GPS

Rubert de Ventós, Maria

GPS allows you to explore cities and landscapes without the help of maps. It allows consulting and accumulating quantity of information about a specific place, but at the same time dramatically reduces the possibility of interpreting the complex spatial relationships that occur in cities. The texts in this book offer opinions and suggestions from an approach to the city moving without GPS. They are the result of a less oriented and more curious walk, which still needs maps and stories to discover the reasons for a route, to understand the beauty of its streets and architecture and its peculiarities and appearance. They are also the result of a series of observations that have been forged after years of explaining the dynamics of urbanism to architecture students. Comments are often a reaction to urban projects and concrete initiatives, and suggestions to make Barcelona a better city, capable of adapting to new times and to the needs of those who live in it.
