After leaving the police five years ago, Alan Auhl returns to the force to solve the so-called cold cases. He now has three on his hands: that of a skeleton found in a garden, that of a murdered old man who apparently had no enemies, and that of a Blue Beard who has already killed two of his wives and now threatens to destroy the third. . Those who see Auhl as an eccentric veteran could not have been more misguided. Simply his methods, unorthodox and sometimes highly questionable, show that he takes his research to the last consequences.
