Bajo el fuego y la sal
Soto Chica, José
In the year 846 AD. C, the former capital of the great Empire has become a ruined and semi-abandoned city. Even so, Rome remains eternal, because the Pope rules there and the bodies of the apostles of Christ: Peter and Paul rest there, surrounded by immense riches. Great treasures hide the Church. And for this reason, pirates and Saracen corsairs from across the seas conspire to assault and loot the city. Meanwhile, in the background, next to the thrones of kings, caliphs, emirs and emperors from all over the Mediterranean, whispers of conjurations and trumpets of war can be heard. The world seems to have gone mad, and in the midst of that madness the only common goal is to thrive and survive. And so they live and struggle from the Pope to a Byzantine dancer, a Viking leader as ambitious as he is relentless or an alchemist willing to sell to the highest bidder the most coveted secret in the known world: the formula of Greek fire.
