Bailando con moscas

la itinerante vida de un evolucionista

Fontdevila Vivanco, Antonio

Antonio Fontdevila seeks to communicate the reasons for his vocation and transmit to the reader the scientific experiences, his approach to evolutionary genetics and the ecosocial aspects that he has encountered on his expeditions. He also shares his ideas about how science is done in diverse sociocultural environments. The understanding of the value of basic science for development is not yet rooted in our country, much less the key role that model organisms, poorly considered "insignificant", such as Drosophila flies, play in great scientific discoveries. This book tries to refute this widespread idea and highlights the importance that evolutionary thinking, the result of the revolution promoted by Charles Darwin, has in understanding life on this planet. Along this path, studying flies has been an enormously successful process that has also allowed us to better understand human beings.
