"There are a myriad of accounts in the Jewish tradition, and partly also in the Muslim one, that describe Cain differently from the biblical version; and I, who after all am just a storyteller, have worked on these alternative stories". In this work, Andrea Camilleri offers an unusual and surprising vision of the first murderer in history. He is a Cain inventor of the concept of choice, and therefore of the idea of responsibility from which the notions, so rooted in Western culture, of guilt and guilt descend. A Cain, ultimately, who goes beyond repentance to realize that, without evil, good would not exist.
