From ancient times to the present day, Spanish explorers and travelers have contributed to the geographical and scientific knowledge of the world and have been relevant protagonists of extraordinary adventures, although they have not always received the recognition that they deserved. Many remain almost in oblivion, while others have been unjustly treated by history, overshadowed by explorers of other nationalities who have known how to disseminate the history of their travelers more effectively. The Atlas of Spanish Explorers, produced by the Spanish Geographical Society with the collaboration of the best historians who are specialists in the field, is an unprecedented work of dissemination, which manages to bring together in an almost encyclopedic way the most important contributions of our travelers. For this, more than two hundred characters have been selected, including both the best known (and recognized) great explorers, as well as other forgotten travelers, scientists and adventurers, who surprise the reader by the relevance of their exploits and discoveries.
