Aliocha Coll persisted in his artistic endeavor regardless of the little or no success of his books, trapped in an increasingly precarious and isolated existence, he worked obsessively, deaf to any advice and without yielding to any kind of facility. His death occurred in Paris, at the age of 40, in November 1990. He had finished his last novel, Attila, published posthumously. Javier Serena's novel takes the title of Aliocha Coll's last work, and builds a moving tribute to an author who lived clinging to his literary convictions, ignoring the toll he had to pay.
