This edition offers an overview of Karl Marx's mature journalistic work. He wrote a large number of newspaper articles from the beginning of his checkered academic career in 1842, and here we bring together a representative selection of those he published, between 1852 and 1862, as London correspondent for the New York Daily Tribune and the newspapers in German language Neue Ocler Zeitung and Die Presse. It was in the press, and not in his philosophical treatises, that Marx most directly confronted the present, inequality, violence, and exploitation, always with matchless dexterity, surprising lucidity, and incisive humor.
