Amina is one of the thousands of Djiboutian women who have experienced female infibulation: a type of ablation in which the clitoris and labia majora and minora are removed and the vagina is sewn up. To make matters worse, after the operation she is raped and becomes pregnant. Determined to flee to France, where she thinks women have the same rights as men, she begins a journey that will cross all of Africa. The vicissitudes of life will lead her to work for Blanca Miralles, an elderly woman who needs help at home and who at first does not feel too comfortable. Little by little, a very special relationship will emerge between the two.
