Aquí, Unión Radio
crónica de la primera cadena española (1925-1939)
Afuera, Ángeles
Unión Radio was the first major Spanish radio project, born in 1924 and backed by the main international companies, from the British Marconi to the American General Electric and RCA, the French Tudor or the German AFA. Its objective, which it fulfilled in its 14 years of existence, was to create a chain of local stations around a powerful head, its main station, Madrid's Unión Radio, which began broadcasting in June 1925. Since its birth, Unión Radio , installed on Gran Vía, was the voice and reflection of an exciting time, of great creative effervescence, of political and social changes. Gómez de la Serna, Benavente, Jardiel Poncela, García Lorca, Alberti, Joaquín Turina, Igor Stravinsky, Miguel Fleta, the Halffters, Victoria Kent, Clara Campoamor, La Argentinita and many others, but also now forgotten characters who conceived many of today's radio genres. His microphone picked up the arrival of the Second Republic live, and not a single day did he miss the appointment with the increasingly numerous listeners during the three years of the Civil War. This book recounts the adventures of Unión Radio, reconstructs its programming, the momentous moments it narrated and the daily anecdotes. In short, he recovers his memory and his name for the history of Spanish radio.
