Esteban Walther, the best Spanish conductor of all time, saw his last years darkened by a scandal that shocked the country. His brilliant international career was destroyed overnight. Walther, a cultured and refined man, with a hectic love life, fell into disgrace and was repudiated by all his powerful and influential friends. His enormous house in Madrid, which in the past was the scene of legendary meetings and parties, is left empty when the Filipinos in charge of its maintenance leave for their country. In his absence, Esteban Walther's driver, Fernando, must travel there. Haunted by memories of that splendor and with the only company of an ailing dog, he will take advantage of his sleepless nights to write about the last years of his boss. He, a simple mechanic who witnessed that dazzling life, will tell us this story in his own way. With an ambiguous voice that oscillates between justification and condemnation, Fernando will reel off the episodes of an uncomfortable past that refuses to die and that still causes him a moral conflict.
