Adrienne Rich was one of the most influential American poets of the last century. With a compelling and unmistakable voice, she managed to introduce discussions of gender, race and class into poetic discourse, and was able to question the formal limits of poetry at the same time as to society and herself. In her work, there is always the manifest intention of seeking the truth; her approaches to the human condition, love and history are based on the conviction that change is possible only through awareness. With the aim of traversing and reflecting the evolution of her poetry from its beginnings, close to tradition, until it develops a more radical style, both in form and in feminist and political content, this bilingual anthology presents a selection of ten books published between 1951 and 1985, and also includes a foreword by the author.
