Antología de Álvaro de Campos

Pessoa, Fernando

Along with two other famous heteronyms (Alberto Caeiro and Ricardo Reis), Álvaro de Campos is one of the protagonists of what Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935) called the "drama of people" of his poetry. The present Anthology of Álvaro de Campos (translated and annotated by José Antonio Llardent) includes, in addition to the famous manifesto «Ultimatum», the substantial majority of the poetic work attributed to this character: from the extensive «Opiario» (also offered in Portuguese original) and all the odes of the first period, up to the pieces written shortly before Pessoa's death. This volume is essential to know or delve into a work that constitutes, with its contradictions, with its aesthetic achievements and with its false transparency, one of the highest poetic expressions of our time. Other works by Fernando Pessoa in Alianza Editorial: "Book of restlessness", "Poetry", "The anarchist banker and other tales of reasoning" and "Fictions of the interlude".
