Anatomia del Deep State espanyol
Clot i Trias, Damià del
When Spain loses its overseas colonies, the army falls into the pit of disrepute. With no imperial feats to display, the State turns inward and makes a banner of unity. It invents enemies, creates a legal framework of exception and forges institutions with a repressive vocation. The common good is replaced by the rationale of the State, which is defended, if appropriate, from the blind corners of the system. Francoism accentuates it and the death of the dictator does not stop it, because the Spanish elites are recycled and continue to have power in a low-quality democracy. In this way, the legal framework remains in the hands of institutions wary of the Constitution's system of rights and freedoms. The assassinations of J. F. Kennedy and Aldo Moro, Watergate and certain practices of Putin's Russia have been explained from the existence of a power that operates in the shadows of institutions. Also the so-called Operation Catalonia, the Catalangate, the statements of the ex-minister Barrionuevo about the GALs and everything related to the ex-commissioner Villarejo attest to the existence of a power in the sewers of the State. The description of a State within the State that operates with impunity outside the law it claims to defend.
