Alice Guy

Alice Guy

Bocquet, José-Louis
Catel (il.)

A free and independent woman, Alice Guy was a witness and a key player in the birth of the seventh art, and rubbed shoulders with such renowned names as Gustave Eiffel, Louis and Auguste Lumière, Georges Méliès, Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. Distinguished with the Legion of Honor, but without owning any of her creations, she passed away in 1969, lost and forgotten. With Alice Guy, Catel and Bocquet contribute to the historical recovery of her figure, and once again put their art and her sensibility at the service of feminism, to rescue this erased name from one of the most important chapters of the modern world.
