Algo extraño me pasó camino de casa

Gallardo, Miguel

Miguel Gallardo realizes at the beginning of 2020 that he is somewhat tired from the succession of trips and workshops that, year after year, he has repeatedly carried out since the publication in 2007 of his creative success María y yo, a graphic novel in which he counts her relationship with her daughter, who has autism. The Catalan author feels that it is time to take at least a month off. However, suffering from a small pain, he enters the hospital door and they end up removing a four-centimeter tumor from his head that is marked by forty-five staples "and a punk hair", a bit like Makoki, one of the famous characters that Gallardo co-created as a cartoonist at the end of the 70s. And he also leaves the hospital to continue dealing with the carcinogenic process in a world submerged in a pandemic that little or nothing resembles the one he had when he entered by his own foot to look at himself that "sore" that accompanied him in his daily life. Something strange happened to me on the way home, co-edited by Z as SanZ, an editing project in which the unfortunate late Julián Sanz put a lot of himself, is Miguel Gallardo's need to draw and explain everything, first to understand it himself and later to tell the others "what it is like to travel to the moon without a helmet and then return without maps or guides... But without melodramas, eh? This is -Gallardo assures us- a chronicle of the inexplicable personal and world events that they happened in the year of the Lord of 2020".
