Asa's husband has been offered a new job in a remote part of Japan, close to the home where he was born. During an exceptionally hot summer, the couple settle next to the in-laws' house, amid the deafening roar of the cicadas, which invade everything. As her husband indulges in work, she begins to explore the environment on her own. She until one day she runs into a strange creature that is not a dog or a raccoon or a human being. Asa follows her to the embankment of a river, between tall grasses that reach her knees, and falls into a hole that seems to have been created for her, and in which, in a way, she is trapped forever. Is she seeing ghost children? Has the supernatural become part of her life?
