A flor de piel
una interpretación de las caricias y las emociones desde la neurología
Montero, Jordi
The importance of skin-to-skin contact, physical contact as an expression of emotion, and how it is primarily biologically based are the central themes of this book. We do nothing more than behave like the animals that we are, expressing our most elementary principles, which have a physical, chemical vision in the brain, of neural networks that we are already getting to know well. Because if we can't touch each other, why a body? Why, if no one touches you, no one smells you, no one is close enough to hear the beat of your heart or see the changes in your skin when the breeze hits you? What difference does it make to eat or not to eat when doing so is no longer sharing rituals or pleasures or lively conversations around a table? From a neuroscientific perspective, this essay deals with the primordial importance of skin-to-skin contact, its role in the expression of emotions and interpersonal relationships. The author highlights the importance of neurobiology to understand ourselves as a species.
