Òxid de ferro
Premi de contes i narracions Sant Carles Borromeu 2021
Canadell, Albert
A fine patina of patient goldsmithing amalgamates this collection of five narratives that, with a provocative diversity of styles, invite the reader to travel through time, to connect with unexpected landscapes, to delve into borderline situations, to delve into the condition human with subtle brushstrokes of magic not exempt from criticism and irony. The first of the stories narrates the life of the supposed last gollut of the Vall de Freser at the beginning of the 20th century. It is followed by the recreation of the Roman invasion of the island of Menorca, where cave-dwelling villages lived. It continues with a party held in the most remote interior of Brazil, an experiment on human behavior and a dystopian tale, which transports us to a possible future. The title refers both to the temporality of life and also to the use of the pigment, ocher, used since ancient times in the imprints and cave paintings still visible of the ancestors with the hand dyed with iron oxide , such a primary form of communication of humanity.
