Écoute!

The book with which to understand spoken French. Many French students know how to introduce themselves, talk about their family, their work, their hobbies, perhaps they even know how to express their opinion on more complex topics. But do they understand French speakers when they express themselves naturally by speaking fast, putting words together and using informal fillers? To face the challenge of understanding the first time, we have designed Écoute!, a tool that will mark a before and after in French listening comprehension for readers, regardless of their level! Throughout 45 chapters that will increase in difficulty, the reader will expose his ear to French spoken in different accents and registers. He will listen to carefully selected recordings and podcasts, mostly from radio and television stations. The audio pieces, on various topics such as technology, education or health, are worked on through comprehension questions and explanations of vocabulary, grammar, expressions, linguistic turns, etc. To reinforce what has been learned, in each chapter we will put the reader to the test with an additional audio exercise and a Vaughan-style translation list, essential to also work on oral expression.
