4.0: la nueva revolución industrial
Bianchi, Patrizio
The long economic crisis that ended up erupting in 2008 has given rise, under the aegis of digitization, to a new way of not only manufacturing or producing items, but of consuming them, known under the label 'industry 4.0'. The internet of things, artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous vehicles and drones, virtual reality, digital tracking or 3D printing are technologies that are changing our lives. Is it justified to speak of a new industrial revolution? In order to answer this question, Patrizio Bianchi describes to us the main attributes that characterized the previous three (specialization and division of labor; mass production and the assembly line, and finally, differentiated production and the emergence of information technology), to formulate the key questions related to the social, political and scientific transformation that is marking the beginning of the 21st century and to trace the features that distinguish it.
