1923, el golpe de estado que cambió la historia de España

Primo de Rivera y la quiebra de la monarquía liberal

Villa García, Roberto

At dawn on September 13, 1923, Miguel Primo de Rivera fulfilled his ultimatum to the king and the Government, and declared a state of war in Barcelona. At dawn, his coup d'état had won and Alfonso XIII had failed in his attempt to channel the act of force through constitutional means. On September 14, a revolutionary board was already ruling in Madrid and, on the 15th, Primo de Rivera took power, suspended the Constitution and established a personal dictatorship. That event was going to mark the most radical turn in the history of Spain in the 20th century until Franco's death. This book addresses the turbulent final months of the parliamentary monarchy, carefully reconstructs the keys to the 1923 coup and clarifies one of the most controversial questions in our recent history: how was it possible for such a quick, bloodless and surprisingly popular coup to destroy the constitutional regime? longest in Spain to date.
