Natt och Dag, Niklas

A year after the death of King Gustavo III, the winds of the French Revolution even reached Sweden, where the tension is palpable throughout the country, turned into a nest of conspiracies, suspicions and misgivings. In this unbreathable atmosphere, Mickel Cardell, a veteran of the war against Russia, discovers an excruciatingly mutilated body in a Stockholm lake. A tuberculous lawyer, the shrewd and incorruptible Cecil Winge, is in charge of the investigations, but time is pressing: his health is precarious, the monarchy is making water and revolts are the order of the day. Winge and Cardell will be immersed in a world of crooks and thieves, rich and poor, pious and sinful, mercenaries and prostitutes. Together they will face the evil and corruption that nest in Swedish society to clarify the mysterious truth hidden behind that terrible crime.
