Elections in the United States have always generated interest around the world for their repercussions on international politics, and increasingly so in the last decade. However, there is still a general lack of knowledge about the US electoral system and even about its political system. What are the origins of American politics and what values ??does its Constitution promote? How is the separation of powers determined as a system of checks and balances? How is the US federal system and bipartisanship defined? What is the mode of operation of Congress as a bicameral system? How are legislative and presidential elections or electoral campaigns and the financing of political parties organized? This book thus aims to describe and explain the functioning of the institutions in American politics and their origins, in order to understand how they are organized democratically to elect their representatives, how they do it and when, also offering a comparison with the Spanish political system.
