Volver a Shangri-La
Benavides, Jorge Eduardo
From a box of family photos, Mariana tells the story of her life to her daughter, to justify the way in which we repeat certain behaviors, often despite ourselves. He details each one of those images, and dwells on them to recover an elusive past, that Lima childhood that exists simply as something destined to be longed for, a landscape that vibrates with fleetingness before disappearing completely, like a mirage in the heat of the desert. The portraits do not lie for those who know how to look and unmask the fragility of the poses.
