After the war, a group of armed men unexpectedly detain Bruno and Silvina's parents and uncles. Four children and a baby are left alone and defenseless in the house their families share, left to fend for themselves in a hostile city where citizens watch each other from the windows. Bruno and Silvina, accompanied by the ghost of little Alicia, disappeared in a bombing, fight to survive, take care of the baby, her young cousins and find her parents, despite the cowardice of neighbors, friends and strangers pushing them to a dead end. The lack of solidarity makes the weak an easy target. One misstep is enough to reduce our expectations of life to the narrow sight of a rifle.
