Tu podries ser immortal!

Barjuan i Sanz, Josep

As we enter an era in which hunger, war, and disease -in spite of everything- are in the process of minimizing their devastating effects, other more subtle and deadly threats begin to appear on our planet. And they are not external threats to human beings; on the contrary. The lack of collective consciousness, empathy and compassion, aggravated by the conception of individuality as the only way that must give meaning to our existence, make the moral position and its legal aspects allow extreme situations that they can lead to substantial and lethal changes for the survival of the species. We are at a vital crossroads where our determinations as a group, but also as individuals, will be of paramount importance in the short term. This essay, then, delves into the controversial world of individuality, death and transcendence, provocatively proposing a method for being able to be immortal. Organized in two parts, the first speaks of the uncertainty of existence, genetics, identity, memory, morality, surrogacy, and human rights; and the second exposes the proposal of immortality through self-incarnation through cloning with identity transfer.
