Todas nosotras
Garay, Higinia
Casillas, Elizabeth
El Salvador has one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in the world and termination of pregnancy, both voluntary and spontaneous, is extremely harshly punished. In fact, the majority of convicted women are tried for aggravated homicide, after having suffered obstetric complications. They are accused of having killed their baby and face penalties of up to forty years in prison. In 'Todos nosotras', Elizabeth Casillas and Higinia Garay tell the story of four Salvadoran women, Mariana, Cynthia, María Teresa and Elsi: how they have to go home after being in prison for a crime that should never have been, and how difficult it is they find it to reintegrate into a society that continues to judge, harass and discriminate against them. This is their story, but it is the story of all.
