In 947 AD, Prior Ponç visited the always dangerous lands of the Penedès mark to find a place to build a new Benedictine priory. It does so by express order of the abbot Gotmar of Sant Cugat and the count Sunyer of Barcelona. The reception by the lords of the lands, however, will not be as enthusiastic as expected. The threat of Saracen hosts and the need for more men for their territory make the lords reluctant to contribute land and money for that purpose. This story is about the birth of a nation and the difficulties that the men of those times had in building it. He tells us about moments of border tension and constant disputes over the territory. He tells us about warriors, monks and peasants fighting to build a new country.
