Squeak the Mouse

Squeak the Mouse

Mattioli, Massimo

According to testimonies that have circulated by word of mouth in comic circles for decades, Squeak The Mouse was the character that inspired Matt Groening to create his Scratch and Pike. And it doesn't seem far-fetched, given the vibrant similarities in many of the gags in both series. But book and author are much more than that. Fumetto legend since the mid-sixties both in his country and in France, and founder of the mythical Cannibale magazine in the late seventies, Mattioli began publishing Squeak The Mouse in 1982, soon reaching the Spanish public through the magazine The Viper. Irreverent and pop, a lover of the avant-garde as well as the most far-fetched genres of popular culture, Mattioli found international success with this cartoon parody starring the most bloodthirsty cat and mouse in history. A festival of fluids and amputation that became a source of inspiration for underground authors from all over the world and that continues today to satisfy the worst instincts of the most depraved reader. Explicit sex, dark humor, nods to B-series horror and science fiction, and most of all, a devilish rhythm that leads to an escalation of bubbling violence and destruction that no one has managed to overcome.
