Soc un boomer
la glòria i l'ocàs dels fills d'una generació
Vallbona, Rafael
Between the late fifties and early seventies the population in Spain grew like never before. This explosion of births was called the baby boom generation. At that time the birth of fourteen million girls and boys took society out of drowsiness and sadness, altered the population pyramid to the point of overturning many structures of the Franco regime, such as education itself, and then it was a of the reagents of hesitant democracy: in 1985 more than half of the state's population was under thirty. Now, with many of its members on the verge of retirement, the baby-boom generation is still the one holding the impoverished pension-paying bag, and the one that will have to endure, working to the point of exhaustion, the unsustainable Social Security protective model. At this collective vital crossroads, the covid-19 crisis has placed the so-called (with a certain contemptuous tone) boomers on the brink of the precipice.
