Sideral
estrella fugada
Castells, Héctor
Aleix Vergés, DJ Sideral (Barcelona, 1973-2006), was the emblem of a decade, an involuntary and generational beacon who forged his legend on the decks of the legendary Nitsa club and as leader, singer and guitarist of the most resounding hype of Spanish pop from the nineties: Peanut Pie. Sideral's star flowed at the post-Olympic crossroads, and his intuition, his talent and his influence witnessed the birth of two of the largest music festivals on the planet: Sónar and Primavera Sound. Aleix's six-foot ninety-seven broke the ceiling and illuminated the path of a generation of young hedonists and night owls; of the children of democracy, the second residence and the doped dream of the university. Little by little, the grooves of techno, the arrival of international stars, the post-Olympic enthusiasm and the massive landing of ecstasy -the love drug- formed the soundtrack of a decade, of which Aleix would become, much to his regret, in icon and banner. Aleix Vergés was the musician and he was a pioneer. An indiscriminate sponge. Constant. He devoured all kinds of sounds, and his curiosity was endless. His height and his thinness, his insulting beauty and his irresistible magnetism, coexisted with a brittle, sensitive and insatiable personality. Aleix was convinced that he couldn't love, that he was poisonous and that death would take him early.
