Semblanzas catalanas

Catalonia is plural, just as the ways of being Catalan and the ways of being Spanish are plural, much more so in a Spain with a global history. Testimony of this rich plurality are millions of Catalans who were and also felt Spanish throughout the centuries, from the 16th to the 21st, in the most diverse economic, social and cultural circumstances. In this book a few individual and collective biographies have been chosen that show this plurality. There are twenty-five, could be many more. History, like life, is complex and nothing better than the lives of people to understand the need to broaden horizons and not lock ourselves in reductionist visions. You can be Catalan and Spanish without contradictions, without having to choose, without giving up anything. We can also be European and universal, because in the globalized world of the 21st century, without forgetting our origins, the more open our options are, the greater the goals we can achieve.
