Pureza

Jiménez, Juan Ramón
Fernández Berrocal, Rocío (ed.)

"Pureza" is the last book that Juan Ramón Jiménez wrote in his retirement from Moguer (1905-1912) before settling definitively in Madrid. Although he left all the organized material in Puerto Rico, the verses of this work did not see the light during the writer's lifetime. Forty-six poems make up this unpublished book in which the strength of the present stands out, the song of the joy of being a poet and the evocation of nature. The work is the prelude to pure poetry. Juan Ramón himself cites it on his way to free verse in his autobiographical book "Vida" and it is because, as Francisco Garfias pointed out, Pureza "already has the essential qualities of later Juana Ramón poetry".
