Portuguès per a catalanoparlants
Comellas, Pere
This book is not a manual for learning to speak Portuguese, nor is it a grammar of this language, and at the same time it has a little bit of everything. But the main aim is to offer a taste of a range of fascinating cultures -as they all are- that use Portuguese. It is inspired in a certain way by the fantastic work that two linguists, Beatriz Fernández and Anna Pineda, did a few years ago in the work Basque for Catalan speakers. But if there the authors mainly wanted to emphasize that, despite appearances, all languages have many things in common, here the pretension is to some extent the opposite: to show that even languages as similar as Portuguese and Catalan present particularities dazzling that make them so interesting and unique. From Catalan, learning and understanding Portuguese is easy. In addition, it can be said that all of us who speak Catalan also speak or understand other Romance languages, and it is well known that the more you know, the easier it is to learn new ones. So, this book wants to be perhaps a first step, an awakening of curiosities towards a language so close in every sense, and often so ignored by these verals. But this book has another added benefit: that Portuguese speakers who are curious about it, when reading it, get to know and recognize themselves in Catalan.
