Katherine Philips, who in her time would enjoy celebrity as the apostle of female friendship, as well as an example of literary and moral excellence for women writers of later generations, demonstrated, by her own example, that women should cultivate his mind as an end in itself, and contributed to the renewal of poetic language that took place in the second half of the seventeenth century in England.
