Nimona

In 2012, ND Stevenson, then an art student in his early 20s, started a webcomic based on a character devised for a class assignment. This is Nimona, a rebellious young woman, an aspiring villain's sidekick and an exceptional metamorph: she can transform into almost any living being in a matter of seconds. Although the supervillain Ballister Blackheart is not very interested in the idea of having "a baby" around, he ends up accepting her valuable help. Nimona wants to execute very evil plans as soon as possible, on the contrary, Blackheart patiently and measuredly prepares her revenge against his former partner Ambrosius Goldback. In a few pages the reader feels intrigued by the mysterious and conflictive Nimona, surprised by the strangely noble behavior of Blackheart, seduced by the intelligence of a script that combines sensitivity, action and a lot of humor. The young woman's internal struggle, the supervillain's efforts to understand her or the unknowns of each of them's past are some of the main elements of a plot that questions the traditional way of understanding concepts as basic as beauty, power or integrity. The medieval fantasy setting does not detract from the modernity of a discourse in which both today's teenagers and adults will be reflected.
