Narrativas económicas
cómo las fake news y las historias virales afectan la marcha de la economía
Shiller, Robert J.
Since before the idea of ??"virality" existed, the stories people told each other about their experiences or the rumors they heard have transformed markets and the economy. Panics, housing bubbles, stock prices, or the future of new phenomena such as bitcoin have often depended on what one person told another: they are "economic narratives". When they circulate through society in the form of popular stories, ideas can go viral and transform markets. This is the case, for example, with the belief that technology stocks continue to rise, the belief that house prices never decline, or the assurance that some companies are too big to fail. True or false, these stories are carried by old word of mouth, the media, or social media, creating perceptions about spending, saving, or investing that ultimately have a huge impact on the overall economy and in the lives of individuals and societies.
