Míster Evasió

Míster Evasió

Bonet, Blai

Mister Evasió may be the Great Barcelona Novel that many miss. Where a provocative Blai Bonet roams the Xinu and the Somorrostro huts. Its protagonist is Marc Esquert, a teenager from Calella de Palafrugell who studies at La Bonanova but wants to become an outsider in the city fermented by the dictatorship. Between the flashback, the inner monologue and the initiatory journey, Bonet writes with such a lively language that it still drops like a bomb. Published in 1969, for the first time you can read the full version with the fragments removed by the Francoist censor -and they are the ones that most dig into the sacred essences of Catalan-. Thanks to this restoration, Mister Evasió can be understood as a journey to the underbelly of Barcelona that ends in Geneva, where Esquert meets the Great Exiled Poet, symbol of Catalonia.
