construcción y transformación
Gilewska, Teresa
This new book by Teresa Gilewska is intended for beginners in fashion design, dressmakers, and hobbyists of sewing and pattern making who want to learn how to make their own patterns in complete autonomy. The first chapter explains how to measure the armhole and the silhouette. The second shows how to build a straight sleeve and the third focuses on transforming the sleeve. The other chapters deal with specific cases, such as the kimono sleeve, whose pattern is built into the base pattern of the body, or the raglan sleeve, which has the particularity of the armhole, in which the crown of the sleeve extends to the neckline. The main difficulty that this book tries to solve does not lie in mastering the construction and transformation techniques, but in knowing which one (or which ones) to use to build the pattern of the model you have in mind. To help obtain this knowledge, the author explains, through 17 examples of sleeves of very varied styles, how to analyze in detail each model to deduce the technique that can best be applied in each specific case.
