Approaching the middle decades of the twenty-first century, this book presents itself as a fascinating set of ideas on the philosophical debate of the betterment of human beings. It brings together some of the main figures of the British debate and interesting collaborators from the Spanish-speaking world. The articles in this volume have nothing to do with those of the debate in the 1990s. These are not limited to pointing out scientific possibilities. They don't treat science as a mere source of ideas for provocative thought experiments on inserting Michael Jordan genes into embryos; on the contrary, they are seriously linked to science. In this volume you will find thoughtful reflections on the use of oxytocin, the applications of CRISPR, the use of neurofeedback for moral improvement and the possible application of artificial intelligence to moral decision making. The fact that this volume is so interested in scientific details gives it relevance for the future of the debate on improvement that was absent in the discussions of the 1990s. I suppose that this difference will allow these articles to contribute that philosophical advance to which the previous debates could not aspire.
