Works that, for different reasons, manage to attract the attention of successive generations of readers and scholars are not frequent; works that for strange reasons or unreason exert a clear seduction, it is not known very well if due to its content or a legend that time only increases. Blog or prontuario, "Los raros" by Rubén Darío is an example of these unusual books. In it the lives of the writers most admired by its author are mapped, who, starting from an autobiographical itinerary in the literary and in the intellectual, ends up also providing us with an aesthetic and moral map of himself. Published for the first time in 1896, the same year as "Prosas profanas", and expanded in 1905, "Los raros" is not just one more episode in Darío's writing, but a decisive milestone in 19th century literature, which concentrates scale the meanings, trends, and possibilities of the end of the century while serving as both the responsibility of the immediate past and the celebration of a new auroral literature.
