Chance plays a very important role in our lives. For better and for worse. Paul Auster claimed in "The New York Trilogy" that nothing is real except chance. And Dashiell Hammett, in "The Maltese Falcon", went much further: chance is what decides about us. Exaggeration? Literature? Possibly. What is clear, however, is that chance makes for great stories.
