Lluvia de almendras
Sánchez, Guillermo
Lisbon, 1514. Reinaldo Duarte is attracted by the aroma and value of the spices that arrive in galleons at the mouth of the Tagus River and end up in Maese Queirós' herbalist's shop, where he works as an apprentice. Thanks to Queirós's relationship with Francisco Serrano and Hernando de Magallanes, he will learn of the existence of the Moluccas, whose island of Tidore he arrived in 1519 to negotiate with the cloves that are grown on the slopes of the Kiematabu and where he will end up in love with the Princess Moluchia, who invites you to believe that you have found your place in the world. Against the backdrop of the world's first circumnavigation, led by Magellan and culminated by Elcano, Lluvia de almendras is a beautiful novel in which the confrontation between Spain and Portugal in the so-called "war of the antipodes" is recounted, one of the least known episodes in the history of the Iberian Peninsula.
