Lilinne i les bombolles de sabó
Estrada i Carbonell, Jordi
During the summer of 1872, a famous writer in the off-peak hours and his young niece spent a few days on holiday in Banyeres de Luixó, a small seaside town near the Catalan Pyrenees. Throughout this stay, uncle and niece will share conversations and situations that will upset not only the placid local life, but also their own existence. Especially that of Caroline, Lilinne for her uncle, the novelist Gustave Flaubert. A niece who, educated and married in the context of a bourgeois and seemingly advanced society, becomes aware of her freedom and is open to experiment, challenging and transgressing customs, taboos and conventions. Various circumstances and environmental setbacks -a severe drought, a strange summer pass and some horrific crimes- will help to turn this story of conflicting feelings and ideas into a story full of misfortunes, hidden interests and dark obsessions.
